Ebooks

Cuyahoga Falls Library provides ebooks and downloadable audiobooks through the Ohio Digital Library. This service allows you to download ebooks and audiobooks which you can play on your computer or a compatible portable device.

The handouts and short videos (about 5 minutes each) listed below will show you how to download ebooks to various devices. Many of the videos have closed captioning that you can turn on by clicking on CC at the bottom for the YouTube window.

There are a variety of ways to download ebooks to your device, depending on what you have:

There are two ways to put ebooks onto a Kindle: Wifi and USB.

Wifi
Using wifi takes fewer steps, but of course you have to have wifi at home or go to someplace that has wifi (like the library). Also, some of our ebooks cannot be transferred using wifi; those are marked "USB Only."

USB
If you don't have access to wifi, you can download ebooks using a cable to plug your Kindle into a USB port on your computer.

If you have an e-reader that supports EPUB format, such as the Nook, Kobo, etc., you'll need to use the Adobe Digital Editions software. First you'll need to install and authorize Adobe Digital Editions on your computer, then you can use it to download ebooks.
