Telephone Notification System

The library is now using an automated calling system to notify you about reserves that are ready to be picked up and overdue items. The system calls you and plays a recorded message, including your name and the "pick-up by" date for reserves. You will receive either a phone call or an e-mail – see below for details.

Your Choice: Phone or E-Mail

You can receive reserve pickup notices and overdue notices by either phone or e-mail. If you have given the library your e-mail address, you will receive e-mail notices unless you change your preference to "phone." If you haven't given us your e-mail address, you will get a phone call. To set your preference, or to add or change your e-mail address, you can call the library at 928-2117 or do it yourself online – just use the "modify personal info" button on the right-hand side of the screen after logging into "my account" at:

Courtesy Notices: Please note that courtesy notices, which are sent the day before an item is due, are available only by e-mail. If the library has your e-mail address then you will receive courtesy notices by e-mail, even if you have set your preference to "phone."

Reserve Pickup Notices

The Telephone Notification System replaces the reserve pickup calls that we used to do manually. We've had a dramatic increase in the number of reserves recently, and the new system will free our staff to serve you in other ways.

Overdue Notices, Too

The Telephone Notification System allows us to provide a new service, overdue notices to you by phone. We hope these notices will be a timely reminder to return or renew overdue items, helping you keep your fines down. For 3- and 7-day loans (movies and magazines), you'll receive notices 2 and 7 days after the due date. For everything else, you'll receive notices 7 and 14 days after the due date.

For Your Privacy, No Titles

Your privacy is very important to us. We realize that many answering machines are shared (among a family, with roommates, etc.), so we never give the titles of your reserves or overdue items. You can check your account, and even renew items (as long as there are no reserves on them) online at:

www.cuyahogafallslibrary.org/myaccount

If You Have a Menu on Your Answering Machine / Voice Mail System

The new system cannot navigate voice mail menus (such as "press 1 for Bill, press 2 for Maggie"). If you have such a system you'll probably want to give us a different phone number if possible or an e-mail address for your notices.

Why is the message cut off at the beginning? Why does it repeat?

The system does its best to wait until you (or your answering machine greeting) are finished speaking, but in some cases it starts the message before your machine starts recording. In these cases the beginning of the message will be cut off. However, the message will repeat, allowing you to hear whatever you may have missed the first time.
